Kansas Home Inspectors Now Need License

Feb 25th, 2010 | By Steve Kornspan | Category: Inspection, Legislation

To protect the consumer, new legislation went into effect January 1, 2010, requires all Kansas home inspectors be registered with the Kansas Home Inspectors Registration Board (KHIRB) in order to provide home inspection services. If a home inspector does not register with KHIRB by this date, they are prohibited from performing home inspections.  KS Home inspectors also are required to carry a minimum amount of liability insurance.

As of December 29, 2009, over 80 home inspectors across the state had already registered with KHIRB.

Here is the list of registered home inspectors – http://www.ksinspectors.org/

In Missouri there is no such requirement at this time. However, many of the home inspectors registered to do business in KS also do home inspections in MO.
