Today was a great day as we kicked off what I know is going to be a tremendous school year in Blue Valley. Our executive team and I visited every school this morning, and this school year could not have started off any better. My thanks to our staff who have done an outstanding job in preparing for and making this a great first day of school.
I also want to let you know of some very exciting news concerning the District’s ACT scores. Our ACT scores for 2010 have reached an all-time high in Blue Valley. Our composite average score is 25.0. This is an increase of .7 points from last year’s score, and an increase of that magnitude for a school district is virtually unheard of. This is even more impressive after you consider that 86 percent of our graduates took the exam. I am extremely pleased by these results.
An ACT score of 25.0 is an incredible feat for a district to accomplish. This is a system wide accomplishment — from our Pre-Kindergarten program all the way through 12th grade. The foundations for learning that are set in the earlier years of a student’s academic career are built upon in the later years of a student’s career so that scores such as a 25.0 are possible. This is truly a team effort.
I can’t say enough about the work our staff is doing to create an outstanding learning environment for our students. The support we receive from our parents and community is also why we are able to achieve great results.
We look forward to another great school year in Blue Valley. Thank you for being a key communicator.
Sincerely,
Tom Trigg, Superintendent of Schools
